One-Legged Lone Star Wins Nation’s Cup Again
The soccer squad of Liberia Amputees Football Federation (LAFF) on November 26, 2011 clinched the Championship title of the Amputees Football Federation of Africa (AFFA) Nation’s Cup for the second time in a row.
Liberia defeated host Ghana 3 – 2 in post match penalty following a 3 – 3 draw at the end of full time.
Liberia hosted the 2008 Africa’s double champion and won the competition.
Football pundits have described the one-legged Lone Star victory as a motivating factor for the two-legged Lone Star to attain a championship title in at least a sub regional tournament.
Meanwhile, report monitored by Insight Sports suggests that the one-legged Lone Star will return to Liberia today to a heroic welcome.
Lonestar Cell/MTN and the government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) facilitated the amputee footballers’ participation at the just-ended nation’s cup.
